Update after the mid Semester break!

Its been awhile since my last entry to my blog! i believe the faithful followers of my blog might be wondering what is happening to the me and my journey as a seminarian. To update my blog i really need a lot of time to think and exegesis what i want to write about! so i took some time off from blogging to study on the subjects that i am taking this semester.

The 1st semester of 2010 has reached the middle marker, whereby, more and more seminarian zombies were detected walking around the campus. Well, the date due of the assignments given by the lecturers are mostly after the mis sem break. In other words, everyone are rushing for their assignments and the end of mamaking and relaxation for all students! I've had the mid Sem Church History exam which was the worse time that i had gone through! 1 hour of exam to answer 6 essay questions! first time in my life that i wrote terribly in my papers as in my hand writing! well... that is over and now onwards to prepare for the next history exam.

During the mid sem break, I did take some time to relax and not thinking about the assignments and exams! had a good time with my pastoral group when we went down to Melacca for makan trip! May's daughter one said when we kept eating during the trip, "Eat again?!"

"Move away! or i'll fire and blow you away!"

Picture taken halfway going up the Melacca Hill

Melacca river!

Our first pastoral group picture! suppose to take with the statue of St. Francis Xavier....

Breakfast with May and her daughters!

I was planning since the beginning of the semester to travel down to JB during reading week. So this was one of the motivation that i had and it made me "kiasu" to complete some of my assignments before i make the trip! it was a surprise for my girlfriend! the day before i went down... i was gathering information about her work that week because i planned to go down on Wednesday because we have our online bible study together! but she was busy that Wednesday so i had to do it on Tuesday! went down early in the morning at 3am! came back at 10pm! haha.... a whole day! it is worth it and she was surprised to see me!

back to study! and more and more pressure build up! Assignment due dates and exams are getting closer! well.... what happen when pressure came?

During my hair cut! haha......

After my hair cut!! "sin choy, sin choy!"

Well, there are extra one balded student here in the seminary! and because of the shave i got more attention from the students staying in the hostel! haha.... well... lecturers not yet see me in my new look! i wonder how and what is their comment like! well, i wont know till i attend the chapel service tomorrow! haha....

I am Strengthen in Him

The Lord has done great things for us

耶和華已經為我們行了大事
Come rejoice for the Lord has done great things for us
祂鋪張雲彩當遮蓋
He gave us clouds as covering
夜間使火光照
And fire to give us light
耶和華已經為我們行了大事
Come rejoice for the Lord has done great things for us
祂在乾旱之處使水流成河
In the desert He has made a river flow

﹝副歌﹞
我們要歡呼 述說祂的作為
We will celebrate and declare of His works
我們依靠神 就能施展大能
For He is our help; we can do mighty things
我們要歌頌 要歡呼
We will sing and praise, shout with joy
述說祂的作為
To tell of His great works
我們依靠神 就能施展大能
For He is my help; we can do mighty things

2.
耶和華已經為我們行了大事
Come rejoice for the Lord has done great things for us
祂命令狂風止息
He calmed the storm to whisper
那波浪就平靜
And stilled the raging sea
耶和華已經為我們行了大事
Come rejoice for the Lord has done great things for us
祂張開雙手 我們就得飽足
He has satisfied our hearts with His good things

﹝Bridge﹞
祂必帶領選民歡呼向前
He brings out His people with songs of joy
祂將列國的地賜給我們
He will take us into His promise lands
祂必帶領選民歡呼向前
He brings out His people with songs of joy
祂將列國的地賜給我們
He will take us into His promise lands

Apple IPad

While i was just browsing the internet and checking my emails... i was fascinated with the new product that was launched by Apple! take a look....

Its just amazing how the technology keeps improving and keeps getting better and better.... this IPad by Apple costs only USD499! I am not trying to promote this but its really a cool device and i think later in the future.... laptops and notebooks are going to be obsolete! even my Tablet PC is going obsolete! I am just thinking... is there anything that Apple cannot do?

FE and Gospel of Mark

My Field education training started last week on Saturday. Went to get my lunch in Blossom in Seremban because i found out there is a HamCha stall in the restaurant. Ordered the hamcha and tried... it was good... similar taste that i have tasted in Johor Bahru. But JB's one taste nicer :P....

The HamCha in Seremban! very healthy food.. going to eat it again when i got the time!

I drove down to PD for my field ed. together with another senior with his family, they came from China, FuQian province. They are going to the Presbyterian Church in PD. It took me sometime to locate the Methodist church in PD. The map that was drawn for me was not exactly the same as the road! but in the end i found the church. thanks to my highly tuned sense of direction!

Port Dickson Chinese Methodist Church

Took the picture in the evening with the cross as the background while waiting for dinner with the Pastor in charge.

The last time i went to PDCMC was a long time ago. Pastor brought me there just for visitation, if i remember correctly we were journeying back to Subang using the coastal road instead of using the highway! there was a nice beach just opposite the church. However, when i went there last week, the government had build a jetty there for passengers to travel to Indonesia. What a waste.... My ministry in PDCMC are to help with the youth fellowship which only consists of 7 people! and in the worship team...

Today the class of Mark started and Dr. Lim gave us an introduction and also course requirement! not an easy class to take but its my core subject so i have got no choice :s.... there are about 20 students that are taking the class and the conference room was packed with people. There is an exergesis paper that i need to do for the Gospel according to Mark! hopefully i can choose the right text for me to work on! :p

The new semester in STM!

The new semester in STM started off with the yearly annual retreat on the week end to usher in new students who are studying in the Seminary! Got to know some of the new students this year and most of them are in the English Department thus this year we have a balance in both English and Chinese Departments... Bishop Dr. Robert Solomon was invited as the speaker for the retreat and he spoke on the topic of the Lord's Prayer which was divided into 10 session in 4 talk in 2 days!

A book that was written by Bishop Solomon

Most churches in this era have lost the rich tradition of the early church to recite the Lord's prayer in their church worship. There are also Christians and members of the church that do not know how to recite the Lord's prayer too... From Bishop's teaching in this pass 2 days he expounded on the Lord's Prayer and gave me a new insight on the way Jesus taught his disciple this prayer and I believe this prayer is also for us too...

Here are the break up of the 10 sessions that was taught by Bishop Solomon:

Session 1: Introduction
Session 2: Our father
Session 3: In Heaven
Session 4: The name of God
Session 5: Thy Kingdom come
Session 6: Thy will be done
Session 7: Daily Bread
Session 8: Our Sins
session 9: Lead us not
Session 1o: Deliver us from Evil

Let us not forget the prayer that our Lord taught us!

EMUSJ Children Camp 2009

As a practical student in my year end ministry, attending the Children camp in EMUSJ was one of my ministry in the church. It was a 3 days and 2 night’s camp in church. The Sunday school superintendent approached me 2 weeks ago! And asked me whether i could be the teacher for one of the group for the children camp. This is the first time that i was involved in the children ministry's children's camp. I thought that it will be a good experience for me to learn! Initially there were only 4 groups but because the number increased in the registration they had to add another group which was my group! i was given only 1 week to prepare for it, was given a children dance DVD and i need to choose one dance to teach the children in my group. The theme for the children camp was "I am the best" and my group name was "wipe, wipe, wipe" (in Mandarin)

The camp main language was in Chinese... my group we used both English and Chinese to communicate. I had 2 helper and another teacher to help me out in teaching and guiding the group! on the first day, Friday 4th Dec, we had to come out with our own slogan cheer and clap for the group, that was not an easy task because i wanted it to be in Chinese and with my half pail full water in Chinese this was not an easy job, but i thanked God that one aunty came and helped my group out and created the cheer and clap. During the duration of the camp, i was requested to sleep in the church with the boys. They were so hyper-active that the boys went to bed at about 1am and they woke up at 4am! i couldn't believe it.... don the children ever sleep? there are 2 boys who did not sleep at all... they were walking in and out of the room... jumping and just walking... one of them gave a reason that he drank coffee so couldn't sleep!??? so i slept for only 2 hours that night!!! there was another uncle what was also sleeping together with the boys! he too did not have a good sleep! woke up with his eyes red!

Goodies for the children as marks for the camp!

Before all arrive!

A total of 61 children

Making their own name card!

Creating our slogan cheer: morning wipe window, afternoon wipe table, evening wipe chair, everything i wipe myself, do not let kakak wipe, I am the best!

Group game! mind teaser!

The next day, Saturday, was a busy and packed day for the children and the teachers! there was 2 story telling by the speaker "You are special by Max Lucado" and "Lulu the carefree Zebra" haha.... nice story to tell the children! the meals for lunch and dinner was prepared by the children! they really have a nice time cooking! as teacher i do not know how to help in this area but i have helpers to teach them how to cook! especially when they are using the knife to cut the onion and garlic! have to tell them to be careful of the knife! some of us teacher wouldn't last the whole day so we were given 1 hour to rest! but i just had only 30 mins! because during the rest the children are doing the chicken dance.... haha..... for dinner, the children have to go out to the nearby supermarket to get their ingredients for dinner! i think they had a good time shopping and then went back to church to cook dinner! i had a better rest that night better than the first night!

Morning exercise! everyone wants to be kung fu fighting! HA! HO!

Preparing lunch! cutting onions! be careful with the knife!

Cooking!

Our lunch! its good!

My group with our lunch! hehe....

Teaching the dance!

What are they doing?

Can u guess?

yeah! the chicken dance!

Shopping for dinner!

Hey! i also need to learn how to cook wan!

future chefs!

She is enjoying what she cooked!

interpreting the story of Lulu the carefree zebra!

the night ends with treasure hunt for 17 pieces of memory verse that we need to arrange together and memorize!

Sunday, the last day! i was rushing the children to practice the dance and there was a drama about "you are special" that we need to present! so the hard part was to call all of them to come and sit still just to listen to us as we teach! i have to shout and catch one of the boy in my group to make sure he sit still... the children in my group was also quite young! but the group leader helped me a lot as to organize everything! i couldn't do much anyway because i have only 2 days to teach and train them in the dance and drama!!! the end of the camp, parents were invited to come and join the children as every group presents their slogan cheer, 爱的鼓励, the dance and the drama.

Our dance presentation!

It was really an exhausting camp especially dealing with children. It was a good experience and i should say it was fun for the children but tiresome! at the end... my group got the best team work effort! haha.....
